The Cyprus Energy Regulatory Authority (CERA) is an independent Authority of the Republic of Cyprus established under the Law Regulating the Electricity Market of 2003. CERA has executive duties and responsibilities in the Energy Sector. Amongst others, CERA has responsibilities to grand or recall generation licences, encourage competition with ultimate goal the eventual price reduction, safeguard the consumers’ interests and regulate prices and charges related to the production, transmission, distribution and supply of electricity.
European Transmission System Operators (ENTSO-E) -www.entsoe.eu
ETSO is an international union, established in 1999 as the main European Organisation of Independent Transmission System Operators, with a membership of 32 independent organisations from 15 countries of the European Union, plus Norway and Switzerland. The Cyprus TSO was accepted as a full member of the ETSO Council in September 2005.
All ETSO decisions are taken by the Steering Committee, which meets every month and by the General Assembly, which convenes once a year.

The Electricity Authority of Cyprus is an independent semi-government Utility, established in 1952 for the supply of electricity to the whole of the island of Cyprus. At present, EAC is the only Utility in the Republic – excluding Utilities at the north of the buffer zone, where the Cyprus Government does not exercise control- involved with the production and supply of electricity.
